the best thing about work is not having to work

As the plane touched down on the runway , I began to dread having to go to work.  It didn’t help that when we stepped outside the airport, it was gloomy and the temperature was crisp and chilly.

The short getaway was relaxing and fun but it was time to get back to reality.  The next morning, I would have to wake up early, put on my scrubs, and start my trek to work just waiting for 4:15 pm to slowly roll around so I could leave and do it all over again the next day.

I figured I’d go to bed early since I had an early start.  As I got super comfy in bed, I realized I had to check the schedule to see what my start time was (ranges from 7:15 am to 8:15 am).  I got back up and shuffled my way to the living room where the paper was being used as a bookmark in one of my books.

As I begrudgingly looked for my name I saw that I had taken an extra day off.  That meant, I didn’t have to go to work in the morning!  I didn’t really have to go to sleep early!  Best day Ever!!!

At one point I was second guessing myself because I couldn’t believe it.  Did I pick up an extra shift knowing I’d be back early enough and forgot to pencil it in.  Maybe a new schedule was posted and I forgot to print it.

I decided to block it all out and just accept the fact that I did not have to go to work the following day.  I was beyond happy.  I felt so relaxed and excited to be able to work on the blog site.

Screw sleeping in early.  I decided to stay up and watch a movie.  I got my phone, turned off my alarm, and started watching Netflix.  I ended up falling asleep a couple hours later than my intended sleep time. It was great.

Because it was long weekend and I took an extra day off, the work week would only be three days!  Hip Hip, Hooray!

It doesn’t happen often that I get my days mixed up.  Actually, it happens all the time because I am so forgetful.  Plus, working shift work and having a random schedule now really messes with my head space.  If I don’t have anything exciting planned for the week, I usually just look at the schedule the day before to see if I have to work the next day.

Chaos.  But, I like to think that chaos can lead to unexpected happiness ♥ eg. a day off
