Working From Home Isn’t What It’s All Cracked Up to Be.
Do you feel like working from home isn’t what it’s all cracked up to be? Do you find yourself taking more breaks but working later into the night? No one said it was going to be an easy transition…or did they?
When I come home from my shift at the hospital, my brain usually just shuts down and I want to relax and veg. But when I have the day off and have to do work online as a part time community manager, I find myself working longer because time goes by so fast. It kind of sucks because some days I don’t even know if I’ve brushed my teeth or had lunch. I definitely have not found my groove yet.
Do These Before You Go Nuts
Before you lose yourself into the abyss of working from home and barely coming up for fresh air, make sure you have some rules in place to stay sane. Start your day off right by doing a few of these things:
- Brush your teeth in the morning and make your bed
- Change out of your pajamas
- Go for a walk outside
- Turn your phone off while you work and only turn it on once you’re done you’re tasks – gotta have something to look forward to
- Incorporate a small workout routine to keep yourself energized
- Don’t work in bed – no one likes back pain
- Don’t sleep in too long
These tips may sound simple and obvious, but you’ll be surprised at how fast you forget to do them. You don’t want to slide into a slob state of working from home.
Changes Can Be Difficult…
Working from home is a new concept for many people. You’re probably used to the voices of coworkers, the ringing of the phone, the footsteps of humans that aren’t your family. It’s a big change that many may need to get used to for a while yet.
